Understanding Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period (AEP)

Today we're going to talk about the annual enrollment period for Medicare that every Medicare beneficiary has to navigate. So, every year from October 15 through December 7, Medicare opens its Annual Enrollment Period (AEP). This is your chance to review your current coverage and make changes that could better fit your needs for the upcoming year.

If you're on Medicare, here’s what you can do during AEP:

  • Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan

  • Change from one Medicare Advantage plan to another

  • Join, drop, or switch a Part D prescription drug plan

  • Go back to Original Medicare from a Medicare Advantage plan

So why is this important? Because plans change—Medicare is dynamic—and so are your health needs. Premiums, drug formularies, provider networks, and out-of-pocket costs can all shift from year to year. I take the time each AEP to review all my clients options to potentially save you money, prevent surprises at the pharmacy, and make sure you’re still seeing the doctors you trust.

If you're reading this and it's currently AEP, feel free to reach out, I’m here to help. I take the time to listen, compare your best options side by side, and guide you—without pressure or sales tactics into the best plan for you.

To work together, call or text me at 615-579-7592 or email joel@wellnessinsurance.info. I’d be happy to help.
